When I tell people Noundry can reduce development time by 60%, they're skeptical. That sounds like marketing hyperbole. But it's not magic—it's the result of eliminating three massive time sinks that plague most C# projects.

## Where Development Time Actually Goes

Most teams think they're spending time building features. They're not. Here's where time actually goes on a typical custom C# project:

- **Infrastructure code:** 25% (auth, logging, caching, API clients, database plumbing)
- **Decision paralysis:** 20% (which ORM? which DI container? folder structure debates)
- **Integration debugging:** 15% (getting third-party libraries to play nice)
- **Actually building features:** 40%

Only 40% of development time goes toward the thing the customer actually pays for. Noundry targets the other 60%.

## Time Sink #1: Infrastructure Code

### The Problem

Every C# project needs the same boring infrastructure:

- Authentication and authorization
- Structured logging with correlation IDs
- Distributed caching
- HTTP client wrappers with retry logic
- Database connection pooling and transaction management
- Configuration management
- Health checks and metrics

Teams spend weeks reimplementing these basics. And they usually get some of it wrong the first time.

### The Noundry Solution

Noundry ships with production-grade implementations of all this infrastructure, battle-tested across hundreds of projects. You configure it, you don't build it:

```
// That's it. You now have:
// - JWT authentication
// - Distributed Redis caching
// - Structured logging to multiple sinks
// - HTTP client with Polly retry policies
// - Health check endpoints
services.AddNoundry(config =>
{
    config.UseAuthentication(AuthType.JWT);
    config.UseCaching(CacheProvider.Redis);
    config.UseLogging(LogSink.Console | LogSink.CloudWatch);
});
```

**Time saved:** 2-3 weeks on a typical project.

## Time Sink #2: Decision Paralysis

### The Problem

The C# ecosystem is rich with choices. Too many choices. Teams waste days debating:

- Entity Framework vs. Dapper vs. something else?
- Which API versioning strategy?
- REST vs. GraphQL vs. gRPC?
- How to structure the solution?
- MediatR or not?

None of these decisions matter nearly as much as people think. But they consume enormous amounts of team time and energy.

### The Noundry Solution

Noundry is opinionated. We've made the boring architectural decisions for you, based on what actually works in production:

- **Data Access:** Repository pattern with Dapper for queries, EF Core for writes
- **API Pattern:** REST with versioned endpoints and automatic OpenAPI docs
- **Solution Structure:** Vertical slice architecture with feature folders
- **Validation:** FluentValidation
- **Mapping:** Mapperly for compile-time mapping

Don't like our choices? Fine, swap them out—everything's behind interfaces. But most teams are happy to skip the bikeshedding and just build features.

**Time saved:** 1-2 weeks of meetings and refactoring.

## Time Sink #3: Integration Debugging

### The Problem

Getting third-party libraries and cloud services to work together is miserable:

- Subtle version incompatibilities
- Undocumented configuration requirements
- Libraries that make assumptions about your app structure
- Authentication flows that only work with specific HTTP middleware ordering

You can lose days tracking down a bug that's ultimately a wrong package version or missing config value.

### The Noundry Solution

All Noundry packages are tested together as a cohesive stack. We've already debugged the integration issues. We've already figured out the right package versions. We've documented the gotchas.

When you use Noundry, you're not just getting libraries—you're getting a curated, tested stack that we know works together.

**Time saved:** 1-2 weeks of debugging and Stack Overflow searches.

## The Compound Effect

Each of these time sinks alone isn't massive. But they compound:

- Infrastructure code: 2-3 weeks
- Decision paralysis: 1-2 weeks
- Integration debugging: 1-2 weeks

**Total: 4-7 weeks saved on a 12-16 week project**

That's where the 60% comes from. It's not voodoo. It's just eliminating waste.

## What About Customization?

The obvious question: "What if I need something different than what Noundry provides?"

Then you build it. Noundry isn't a prison—it's a starting point. The difference is:

- **Without Noundry:** You build everything from scratch, including the boring parts.
- **With Noundry:** You get the boring parts for free and only build the custom parts.

Even if you replace 30% of Noundry's defaults with custom implementations, you're still way ahead.

## Real-World Example

A recent client needed a custom B2B SaaS platform:

- **Original estimate (traditional approach):** 16 weeks
- **Actual timeline (with Noundry):** 6 weeks
- **Time saved:** 10 weeks

We spent week 1 on architecture and setup (Noundry provided the baseline). Weeks 2-5 building actual features. Week 6 on polish and deployment. The client was in production in under two months.

## The Bottom Line

Time-to-market matters. The faster you ship, the faster you learn what customers actually want. The faster you generate revenue. The faster you iterate.

Noundry doesn't make you write code faster. It makes you write less code. Less infrastructure. Less glue. More features.
